This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.

School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) is part of the Student Support Unit of the Jefferson Parish Public School System. School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports provides an operational framework for improving student academic and behavior outcomes. It ensures all students have access to the most effective and accurately implemented instructional and behavioral practices and interventions. SWPBIS is NOT a curriculum, but IS a decision-making framework that guides selection, integration and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving academic and behavioral outcomes for all students. The basic SWPBIS approach is to use proactive, research-based strategies to teach clearly defined behavioral expectations. It establishes ongoing behavior supports that can be used by ALL students, staff, parents, volunteers, and community members.
