Mr. Douglas 7th Grade Math
08/24/17 Students will gain an understanding of rules involved in multiplying integers (Glencoe Math Key Concepts on page 234). They will use these concepts to solve problems on 1-4 on page 236 (Guided Practice) and problems 1-7 on page 237 (Independent Practice)
08/25/17 Students will gain an understanding of rules involved in dividing integers (Glencoe Math Key Concepts on pages 244 and 245). They will used these concepts to solve problems 1-6 on page 246 and 1-13 on page 246.
08/28/17 Students will practice skills learned on 8/24 and 8/25 to solve higher skilled problems using worksheets from 7th Grade Go Math pages 440-446.
08/29/17 We will go over the students work from 08/28/17 to reinforce skills on multiplying and dividing integers. Students should have all work recorded in their notebook for further review at home if needed.
08/30/17 Early Release Day – Classes will be shortened, so instead of testing we will begin review for testing on Thursday this week instead (Normally we test on Wed. in the math department).
08/31/17 We will have a brief 20 minute review before testing and students will have an hour to complete their test. This weeks test will include problems on multiplying and dividing integers. There may also be a few problems on adding and subtracting integers to reinforce learning. Rules for adding and subtracting integers can be found on pages 204, 216 in the Glencoe Math Book. Students should have these written in their notebook as well. They should also have example of keep-change-change in their notebook.
09/05/17 We will go over Review Vocabulary at the bottom page 258 (Glencoe Math). Next we will move on to the quick review on page 260 followed by the quick check at the bottom of the page. We will work through the hands on activity on page 261 and the analyze and reflect section on 262. On pages 263-266 we will go over examples and as a class we will work and review all go it sections. By the end of class students will begin work on the independent practice numbers 1-18. What isn’t finished will be given for homework and reviewed on Wed.
09/06/17 We will review homework from the night before and address and questions and concerns students may have. On pages 271-273 we will go over vocabulary words and work through the examples. As a class we will work each “got it” sections and some of the Guided Practice. Students should be able to work questions 1-10 on the independent practice.
09/07/17 We will work through worksheets on higher level thinking problems using skills learned from chaper 4, lessons 1 and 2 in Glencoe math.
09/11/17 and 09/12/17 Glencoe Math, Chapter 4, Lessons 4 and 5 – We will learn to add and subtract integer with like and unlike denominators. We will all learn to add and subtract mixed integers. Students should be able to work the problems in the independent practice in each section.
09/12/17 Review and Test on material covered in Glenoce Math Chapter 4 lessons 1,2,4 and 5.
09/13/17 Chapter 4 lesson 6 – We will learn to multiply integer fractions. Students should be able to work the problems in the independent practice.
09/14/17 Chapter 4 lesson 8 – We will learn to divide integer fractions. Students should be able to work the problems in the independent practice. Students will gain an understanding reciprocals and how they are used (Keep, Change, Flip).
9/18/17 – 9/19/17 We will still be working on multiplying and dividing rational numbers in chapter 4 lessons 6 and 8. For extra studying at home students should be working on extra practice problems at the end of each lesson.
09/20/17 – Test on multiplying and dividing rational numbers
09/21/17 – Issue Volume 2 of Glencoe Math and introduce ratios in Chapter 1 Lesson 1
09/22/17 Continue working with rations in Chapter 1 Lesson 1. Students for studying at home should work on the extra practice problems at the end of the lesson.
